New Look’s Spalding branch to close

The Spalding branch of hugely popular clothing chain New Look is to close with six staff being made redundant.

The Market Place store has been a fixture of the town centre for over two decades, but is to close on June 9.

Staff were told of the impending closure just over two weeks ago and understand it’s following the lease with the landlord not being renewed.

In March the firm announced it was closing 26 stores in the country, though Spalding was not listed among them.

Supervisor Steph Harwood, who has been working in the shop for 18 years said: “It’s a huge shame as we’ve been here for years.”

“So many people are really upset about this and It’s a blow for Spalding as there’s already fewer shops.

“We were all so upset when we heard as we have an amazing team here.

“It’s like a safe place coming to work We’ve been together a number of years including manager Laura Osborn who has been here 19 years.

“The news came as a huge shock.”
