The search for a new home could be over for Holbeach Town Band.
The band will have to vacate its current premises in Back Lane by the spring when the lease ends and members have been searching for an alternative for some time.
Now it seems the problem could be solved thanks to the library in Church Street.
The library service will be vacating the premises in a few months when it relocates to the Co-op building in Fleet Street and Lincolnshire County Council, which owns the building, has said it would be willing to sell to the band.
Musical director Mel Hopkin said: “The library building will be ideal for us and will enable us to expand our operations.
“Funding remains a challenge – we need to raise £100,000!
“Getting a substantial grant was always going to be difficult and we are working hard to put a funding application together.
“Funding may be possible through a Capital Investment grant from the Arts Council or Reaching Communities funding through the Lottery Fund which is substantial funding for certain community focused projects.
“Our funding application has to show what benefit there will be to the local arts community, wider region and audiences and we also have to show how the project would enhance artistic quality and level of engagement with both participants and audiences.
“We would be interested in setting up a music hub for south Lincolnshire and have asked Coun Nick Worth, as Arts Portfolio holder, to investigate this.
“We would be interested to hear from musical groups who would be interested in joining us in a music hub.”
