New fund to bring people together

A mental health charity has launched a new fund to bring people together through a community picnic.

Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind have launched the Good Mood Picnics Fund.

Lisa Gibson, South Lincolnshire Partnerships and Project Manager at CPSL Mind, said: “We are really delighted to launch the Good Mood Picnics Fund as a further support in helping people to connect with folks in their neighbourhood.”

This fund is available to people in the Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge area for resources to make a community picnic happen.

It can be used for anything from a takeaway afternoon tea to some umbrellas (just in case). Good Mood Picnics could be for a street, cul-de-sac, or interest group.

CPSL Mind already provide residents with the opportunity to meet new people as part of their Good Mood Cafe initiative.

These cafes build connections between people, boosting mood and enabling individuals to share passions and interests.

Good Mood Cafes are held on Monday from 1.30pm-3pm at Long Sutton Co-op Café and Wednesday from 2pm-3.30pm at the Curlew Centre in Sutton Bridge.

CPSL Mind also hosts Night Light Cafes which offer a safe and calm space for people who are finding life difficult.

Night Light Cafes are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 6pm-10pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Long Sutton.

There is no need to book into the cafes and they are free to attend.

One person who went along said: “This is an inspirational and uplifting place to meet new friends and chat. There is no pressure, it’s just nice to get out and away from the TV.”
