New coronavirus test centre opens

A COVID-19 testing centre has opened in Spalding for people who have no symptoms.

Lincolnshire County Council has opened the new lateral flow testing site at Four Seasons House, 10 Enterprise Way, PE11 3YR.
The facility is open from Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm.
The doors opened on Monday, but there was no sign-posting or publicity to let residents know it was there.
The delay in putting up signs was blamed on routine communications work halting at the county council when Prince Philip died.
The venue, on the Wardentree industrial area, had previously been available to lease as an empty unit.
“The landlord, A&J Holding, has worked really hard in a week to ensure the building is fully compliant for the government’s agency. We are delighted to be working with them on this,” said Jack Fairman, executive at Poyntons Consultancy.
It has been opened as part of a national push for regular testing in the continued battle with the virus. Families with children at school or college are already being asked to self-test twice a week.
Lateral flow tests can be completed or taken home without booking in advance.
People showing symptoms of COVID-19 are advised to take a PCR test at one of the county’s other sites – Lincolnshire Showground, University of Lincoln, Boston, Gainsborough, Skegness and Grantham.
Statistics from the Government showed two people were testing positive for coronavirus daily in South Holland with the rate per 100,000 standing at 70.5 to April 15. There were no deaths from the virus in the preceding week. A total of 11 South Holland patients were in hospital with coronavirus on April 13, according to Public Health England.
