New chair eyes council vision

The new chairman of Holbeach Parish Council says he’s looking to create a four-year plan to ‘have a vision, mission and objectives’.

Coun Clive Turner has taken on the role after Coun Sophie Hutchinson stepped down just two months after taking over the role from former councillor Stephen Johnson.
She told The Voice she stepped down “because although I clearly have the some public support after being elected, I do not have the support of most of the council, and I never have”.
The authority has been hit with in-fighting for years and some councillors, including Coun Turner, refused to turn up for meetings earlier this year.
He told The Voice he’s now looking to move forward using a more business style approach.
“We need to build better relationships with the district council, the church and local businesses,” he said having been co-opted on to the council five months ago. “We want to focus on the services we provide for the public including cemeteries and parks.”
