New awards have the town at heart

A councillor has launched a new awards ceremony to recognise the people at the heart of Holbeach.

Tracey Carter has launched the Hearts of Holbeach awards to recognise those in and around the town who’ve made a difference during a difficult year.

Nominations are now open and a public vote will decide the winners who will be announced in an online ceremony streamed on the Holbeach Local Facebook page from 7pm on Friday, December 18.

A host of sponsors have got on board with the idea including headline sponsor Taylor’s Bulbs.

Coun Carter said: “Businesses and groups have had a tough year, but we have seen some amazing adapting, and resilience from so many business owners and groups.

“It’s about promoting those businesses, saying thank you to them and showing our full support.

“The more people that trade with them over the next few months the better.

“So it’s a way of saying, thank you and well done to each and every one of them.

“A huge thank you goes to all the people who have showed an interest in this so far including all of the sponsors ”

Categories include Most Innovative/Adaptable Bussines, Best Customer Service from both a business and individual, Community Champion, Best Food Premises, Best Service Industry Business, Best Window Display, Community Group Awards, Sports Group Award and Overall Business of the Year.

The deadline for nominations is midnight on Sunday, November 15.

A panel of judges will decide a final three ahead of public voting which will open on November 20 and close at midnight on December 11.
