Nearly six months of strikes have ended after workers at Bakkavor Spalding agreed a pay deal, the company has said.
A spokesman for the company said that Unite the Union had called an end to the strike after accepting an offer that had been made in October.
“We are delighted that this draws an end to a very difficult time for all colleagues at Spalding,” the spokesman said. “We would like to once again thank our colleagues and customers for their support during this period.”
Unite say more than 700 have taken part in the strike action that began last September when the company initially offered 7.4 per cent rise to those on the lowest wage and 6.4 per cent to others.
Unite were initially looking for an eight per cent rise across the board.
A spokesman for Unite said: “Following an improved offer from Bakkavor, our members were balloted and voted to accept the offer and return to work after a lengthy period of industrial action.
“Unite will continue to campaign for improved terms and conditions for all workers across the food and drink manufacturing sector where low pay causes financial hardship for thousands across Lincolnshire.”
Unite say as part of an agreement with management, those on strike won’t go back to work until March 14.
