MP learns about nature on school visit

South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes has been to Forest School.

He went on one of the lessons designed to promote the awareness of nature on a visit to St Paul’s Primary School in Spalding.
He joined the Early Years pupils for the Forest School lesson and held a question and answer session with year five pupils.
“It’s a great pleasure to be back again at Spalding St Paul’s to see the progress that’s been made here,” Sir John said. “I know the dedicated leadership and professionalism of the teachers makes a huge difference to the young people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
“It was a delight to see their eager faces, their disposition, clearly ready to learn, and their expectations of learning.
“And that’s what we have to do, we have to fix those expectations at the highest possible level to ensure that every child can achieve their potential.”
Headteacher at Spalding St Paul’s Selina Ratchford added: “It was a pleasure to have Sir John visit us.
“He was able to look around the school and spend a bit of time with some of the children.
“I think it was really important to him to see the school in practice and chat to some of the staff in depth about education.”
