Moulton unveils coronation plans

Moulton has unveiled its plans for coronation celebrations.

On Saturday, May 6 it will hold a Lantern Parade.

Those looking to take part should meet at Moulton Mill before the parade heads down the High Street at 7.30pm heading along to the Community Centre.

After a pause for hot dogs, the procession will leave at 8.45pm and head to the Beacon which will be lit at 9.15pm.

It’s planned that the parade will be led by a piper.

Anyone can take part, but you must take their own lantern which can’t be a naked flame.

The following day a Coronation Picnic will take place on Moulton Harrox Playing Field starting at 1pm.

A spokesman said: “Bring your own picnic blanket and picnic. Tables and chairs will also be set out.

“We again have Antoine Fleuriot singing in the afternoon We will also have games to keep the children entertained and also charity and craft stalls at the event too. The bar will be open.

“There will be coronation goodie bags for the children. No dogs are allowed to the picnic.”

A Moulton Celebration Committee Facebook page has been set up for event updates.

Volunteers are also being sought to help the event go smoothly.
