Months of roundabout roadworks to start Monday.

Months of roadworks during the work to build a roundabout for the first phase of the Spalding Western Relief Road are to begin on Monday (May 30).

Lincolnshire County Council has announced the schedule for the work for a new roundabout around Pinchbeck/Spalding Road.

  • Monday to Tuesday May 30 and 31 – Stop/Go boards on Spalding Road near its junction with Enterprise Way
  • Wednesday June 1 for up to four months – narrowed lanes on Spalding Road near its junction with Enterprise Way
  • From mid-summer 2022 for up to three months – a combination of road closures and temporary traffic signals to be used as needed, including on Enterprise Way and Spalding Road (specific dates will be shared once details are finalised and confirmed)

This is just Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “We’re now at the stage where the team will be focusing on getting the new Spalding Road roundabout built.

“This will involve some traffic management until the autumn, including narrowed lanes on Spalding Road for up to four months, along with temporary traffic signals and road closures as needed at Enterprise Way and on Spalding Road starting this summer – most likely in July.

“Once dates for the road closures and other essential traffic management are confirmed, we’ll share the details with residents and businesses so they can make preparations.

“There will inevitably be some disruption during this phase of the project, but we’ll be doing everything we can to keep this to a minimum including giving people as much notice as possible and ensuring there is clear diversion route signage out for drivers to follow when closures are in place.”

The relief road is being done in five stages with both the most northerly and southerly section being the only ones that are currently fully-funded sections that have planning permission.
