Miserable weekend for Sutton men

Long Sutton 1st XI will be looking to end their winless run in the East Men’s Hockey League Division One this coming weekend as they visit the side just above them in the table, Cambridge Nomads.

Sutton remain second from bottom in the league table after losing 5-2 at home to mid-table Broxbourne last Saturday.

There was a defeat too for Long Sutton’s 2nd XI who had their Division 4NW promotion hopes hit by a home loss to Cambridge South 3rd XI.

The visitors claimed a 4-3 victory to leave Long Sutton 10 points off top of the table Wisbech 2nd XI and seven points behind St Ives 2nd XI.

Sutton will look to bounce back with a victory over Bourne Deeping 3rd and 4th XI over the next two weekends.

To complete a disappointing weekend for Long Sutton the 3rd XI lost their Division 6NW (N) top of the table battle with Leadenham 2nds.

The visitors’ 3-0 win at Long Sutton has given them a surely insurmountable 12 point lead at the top of the table.
