A Holbeach youth club is to put on ‘Mindfulness’ sessions for youngsters.
Tonic Health’s hub in the town is incorporating it into its Friday evening offerings for young people.
Mindfulness is a technique that intends to make people aware of what is going on inside and outside themselves, moment by moment.
Experts say it can help mental health and deal with issues such as anxiety.
“In today’s fast-paced world, young people face unprecedented challenges to their mental health and wellbeing,” said Michael Morris, CEO of Tonic Health. “By introducing mindfulness techniques in an accessible, youth-friendly environment, we’re equipping them with powerful tools they can use throughout their lives.”
The Mindfulness Sessions will be available each Friday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm during the regular Youth Club hours of 5pm to 7pm.
The hour will be divided into three structured 20-minute sessions, with students welcome to participate in any or all sessions according to their preference.
The sessions will be led by Wendy-Anne Steer who said: “Mindfulness training helps young people engage the prefrontal cortex, supporting emotional regulation, attention control, and executive functioning.
“By integrating these practices into youth programming, we’re not just offering calm moments; we’re supporting long-term cognitive and emotional development.”
