Soldier fly larvae used to recycle waste

South Holland District Council has raised no objections to the creation of a specialist recycling centre using flies.

The former Superflora flower packing plant on Holbeach Technology Park will be used recycle waste using black fly soldier larvae for bioconversion of 54,600 tonnes a year.

The application has been backed by the district council, with conditions. It’s the county council which has the final say.

Fairman Knight and Sons submitted the application to the county and South Holland was a consultee in the process. It has suggested conditions.
