Milestone for town campus

The Spalding campus of Boston College is celebrating the milestone of its 10,000th learner.

Chelsea Leggatt, who is studying Access to Policing and Criminal Justice Studies, received a voucher and certificate to mark the achievement.

The Spalding campus has had eight years of providing education in the town and the number of learners has risen each year.

Chelsea enrolled in an access to higher education course at the campus after having her son. She hopes to join the probation or prison service once her education is finished.

She also won the world title for kickboxing in the 16 to 18 age group.

The campus offers more than 70 courses in 14 different areas from hairdressing to accounting.

“It was a stroke of luck to be acknowledged as the 10,000th learner, but for Chelsea it is also a deserved celebration of her hard work and dedication. She is a determined learner who works hard,” said Rachel Hunn, programme area manager for access.
