Joe Melson scored his first goal for Pinchbeck United as his side made it six Thurlow Nunn League Division One North games in a row without defeat, chalking up a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Flynn Slater and Logan Tate were also on target to complete a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Essex-based Holland. It came as a result of a solid defensive display, with Josh Balding proving a rock at the back to pick up the man of the match honours, while goalkeeper Ben Martin saved a penalty as well as the follow-up.
Saturday brings the final home game of the season against whipping boys Swaffham Town, which will be followed by the club presentation evening straight after the final whistle.
Then it is derby day at Holbeach United on Bank Holiday Monday, 3pm, to complete the season and possibly bid farewell to the Eastern Counties League. Depending on how Saturday’s results go, the Knights could be in with a chance of overhauling their neighbours in the table. The Holland win moved them up to ninth place, one spot and five points behind Holbeach with two games each to go.
Knights: Martin, Gagyi, Doran, Melson (Ratley), Cranfield, Balding, Howlett (Brooks), Ward (Thorrold), Slater (Tate), Cullen, Williams.
