Martin is sole men’s rink winner but ladies thrive

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s men’s county league team had a tough time at Grantham on Sunday, losing by 32 shots (47-79).
Spalding did manage to win on one rink, which meant the overall match score was 12-2 in the home team’s favour.
Spalding’s winning rink was skipped by Brian Martin, with Jack Wells, Oliver Stanley and James Teesdale, who won 18-13.
Spalding have two fixtures left this season – at home against Boston A on Saturday, March 11, and at Stamford A on Sunday, March 26.

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s ladies continued their fight for the top spot of the Trudy Bates county south division on Thursday with a comprehensive win at home against Grantham.
Spalding started well and never let the travelling team settle, winning on all rinks and 109-35 on aggregate to collect the maximum 14 match points.
The top winning rink was skipped by Julie Hicks, with Sheila Chamberlain, Carole Nunney and Mandy Parkin, who won 31-5.
Spalding’s last match of the county south division is at home to Skegness on Thursday, March 16, when a win will be needed to keep pressure on Boston who are currently second in the division.
