Police who found cocaine on a Holbeach resident were told he’d spotted it outside a Tesco branch.
Officers had pulled over a BMW vehicle just after 1am on December 23.
Driver Vadims Sobolevs (36) was searched and a small bag of white powder, later confirmed to be
the class A drug, was found in his pocket.
Lottie Tyler, prosecuting at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, said: “In interview, the
defendant accepted that the bag was his. He said he found the packet outside Tesco the previous
day.
“He suspected it was drugs but didn’t know what.”
Sobolevs, of Huntingdon Close, pleaded guilty to drug possession and said in mitigation that he was
unemployed after being sacked from his last job for drug-related absence.
Fining him £80, District Judge Peter Veits wryly told Sobolevs that the drug packet was a “lucky” find.
Costs and victim surcharge totalling £117 were ordered.
