Man poured cream over ex-tenant in Spalding store

A woman had cream poured over her in a Spalding shop by her former landlord, a court has heard.

Charles Bosworth (42), of Hereward Road, Spalding, admitted to an assault at the Co-Op in Wygate Park on January 17.

Boston Magistrates’ Court was told that Ewelina Stalska was in the store at 4pm buying something for her children when she heard the defendant say hello to her.

“She was going to ask how he was doing but he started shouting and asking her for money,” said prosecutor Jade Salter. “She said she didn’t owe him anything.

“People in the store were looking at the scene at which point Bosworth selected cream from his shopping and poured it on her and her clothing. Her Samsung Galaxy phone was damaged as a result.”

The court was told the victim had previously been a tenant of property developer Bosworth.

A court case between the two had been settled 12 years ago, defence solicitor Beris Brickles said.

He went on to outline that Bosworth had struggled with mental health issues, had no previous convictions and testimonials to the court described him as a ‘normally kind and respectful person’.

Bosworth was given a two-year conditional discharge, ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and a £26 victim surcharge.

District judge Daniel Church said the actions were over an incident ‘settled years ago’.

“You poured cream over her, not causing any injury, but humiliating her and damaging her clothing and her mobile phone,” he said.
