Man drove while disqualified

A Spalding area man stopped while driving his BMW car was then discovered to be a disqualified driver, magistrates in Boston have heard.

Kevin John White, 53, of Broad Lane, Moulton, who admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance, was also said to be subject to a suspended prison sentence imposed just two months before at

Norwich Crown Court as well as a previous conviction for disqualified driving from 2019.

Prosecuting, Jim Clare said White had been stopped by police at 8.30am on January 3 in Burr Lane while driving his BMW car.

Mitigating, Rebecca Freitas said the offence was fully admitted and asked the magistrates to deal with the case and not send it to the Crown Court that had imposed the suspended sentence as they were not like offences.

She said he had been coping with drug addiction and was on a methadone script and that he was ‘very proud’ of his progress and was starting a new job the following day.

The magistrates fined him £500 and ordered him to pay £135 in court costs and charges.

His disqualification period was extended by six months.
