Man dies after car plunges into river

A man has died after a car plunged into a river near Crowland last night (Wednesday).

 
The incident happened around 8pm on the B1166 Deeping High Bank.

 
The man was rescued from his Volkswagen Golf and taken to Peterborough Hospital where he later died.

 
Lincolnshire Police have revealed identification procedures are ongoing so are unable to confirm any further details about the victim at this time.

 
A recovery operation is underway to remove the vehicle from the water.

This death brings the total number to 39 killed on Lincolnshire’s roads in 2016.
