Making his Mark

Werrington Joggers’ Mark McCarthy belied his club’s name by being first across the finish line at the weekly Snowden Field parkrun in Crowland.

He completed the 5K course in a personal best time of 18mins 58 secs to lead home the 105-strong field.

The first female finisher was Fiona Tideswell, 21:41, in her 501st run, with the solitary member of Halmer Harriers to complete the course being Richard Williams, 11th in 22:57.

It was his 196th run. Other big numbers were chalked up by Paul Stevenette (598) and James Harrison (580).

Organisers are appealing for more volunteers for this week’s run, 9am start.

Anyone who can help with the pre-event set-up, be a first-time welcomer, a marshal, funnel manager or timekeeper, among other tasks, should email [email protected]
