Long Sutton’s top Sunday side earned a narrow win over Weldon to climb out of the Rutland League Division Three’s bottom two at the weekend.
Having won the toss and elected to field, Sutton dismissed ten-man Weldon for 151 in 39 overs.
Kristien Warren (50) and Jonathon Freeman (40) top scored for Weldon, while Jake Burton (3-40), Dan Oldfield (3-25), Matt Bull (2-39) and Rob Simpson (1-37) all starred with the ball.
Nobody managed to anchor the innings in Sutton’s reply, but solid scores from Phil Oldfield (21), Aaron John (41), Luke Barnes (20) and Dan Oldfield (22) saw them to 152-8 in the 44th over.
Weldon’s Zak Mcgraw (5-32) was unlucky to finish on the losing side.
In Division Four, Seas End Hall were handed a walkover win after hosts Oundle Town 2nd conceded against them.
Down in Division Six, rock-bottom Moulton Harrox 2nd are now 35 points adrift at the foot following their 97-run defeat at Sawtry.
Josh Burgess cracked 83 as hosts Sawtry managed to amass 218-8 from their 45 overs, despite the best efforts of Joshua Rushby (3-52) and Rob Sexton (2-51).
Harrox then slumped to 121 all out in 30.2 overs, with number three Rushby (21) top scoring to make it a fine day for the all-rounder despite the defeat.
Down in Division Seven, it was a day to forget for Long Sutton 2nd as they were steam-rollered by hosts Hampton.
Nobody made double figures as Sutton were knocked over for a meagre 57 in 25 overs.
That was down to fine bowling from Kane Saunders (4-15), Greg Clarke (3-7), Ian Kendall (1-11), Ryan Winters (1-6) and Alastair Hayden (1-7).
Hampton knocked those runs off in 6.4 overs, with Jarryd Gahan (29 not out) and Matt Hayden (14 not out) easing them home.
