Works to repair potholes on Woolram Wygate will begin next week, Lincolnshire County Council has said.
The authority will be resurfacing a quarter of a mile of the road between the Wygate Park junction and Nursery Way starting on Tuesday, April 21.
Work is expected to be finished by Saturday, April 25.
The news comes two weeks after The Voice ran an article where it was claimed by campaigners that now was the perfect time to resurface the road with them being quieter due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
That’s particularly given the road passes in front of Spalding Primary School
Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This section of the Woolram Wygate has reached the end of its life, so we’re taking the opportunity now the school is closed to resurface it.
“We’re following guidelines from the Department for Transport and public health so that we can keep crews safe whilst carrying out essential maintenance like this.
“Across the county, we’re still out in force to make sure our roads are safe for NHS and care workers, and those making essential journeys.”
Traffic will be diverted along Pinchbeck Road, Park Road, and Pennygate.
