LETTERS – Working together is stronger

Over the last decade, the local residents of Carrington Road and surrounding areas have been blighted by an eyesore that has overstayed its welcome.

The site was bought after the closure of Burden’s Garage, on the junction of Carrington Road with Bourne Road.

On several occasions in the past I have raised my concern in the local press and spoke with my local MP about this blot on our landscape. But more recently I have been in correspondence with my district councillor, Angela Newton.

Like many local residents Angela was concerned about the proposed development as it was felt there was already enough convenience stores in the area. Also the threat of late night-early opening would have an impact on the current dangerous junction.

Recently, Angela contacted the enforcement officer and as a result the site has been cleared of all the overgrowth and is now at a respectable level for a site awaiting development.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Angela for her help, support and determination in making this area of Spalding better for her ward members.

It’s good to be able to work with your local councillor in partnership for the benefit of the local community.

This proves that working together we can be stronger.
