LETTERS – Well done to the council

Following on from your article in today’s (October 13) edition, relating to SHDC not dealing with the £150 government rebate payments.

I have to state that the experiences reported were diametrically opposed to that of mine, and on this occasion, I feel the council should be congratulated and praised for the efficient and expeditious manner with which my case was dealt with.

As I take extreme fastidious care in keeping records, I can report that, having not heard anything from SHDC, and with the time deadline fast approaching, then on Tuesday, September 27 at 3.22pm, I telephoned the council to make my enquiry.

The individual dealing with my call was able to inform me that the council had, in fact, credited my account the previous Friday (September 23) and then proceeded to further inform me that as far as the council were concerned this would consist of a nil payment for October, a reduced payment for November, and then back to normal come December.

I was also informed that a letter would be sent to me within the next seven working days confirming such. This was duly received, dated October 6.

Despite having to work through the “menu” (which had an addendum at the start with regard to calls being diverted from Boston Borough Council), the whole duration of the call was precisely five minutes.
Moreover, the call-taker was extremely pleasant and polite (no, honestly!) thus making the whole experience entirely painless.

Perhaps it might be that the individuals within your report had rung during the morning, when I believe traditionally and historically the council are, and always have been, much busier.

Well done once again to the council on this occasion.
