LETTERS – Was letter fact or hearsay

Fact or Hearsay?

In response to the recent publication regarding the Spalding Social Club, I would like to respond as follows.

Firstly, no drinks were served from the club premises bar to the snooker room.

Secondly the police were in attendance of the club premises on one occasion only and not two as stated in the letter.

This was instigated by a call to the police to report an alleged break in at the premises.

When the police arrived, the president and chairman were in the premises discussing bar and finance in relation to the lockdown.

Having checked all was in order the police left the premises and at no point of their visit were any warning given to the club or the people in it by the police.

Both of these issues were addressed at the following committee meeting.

The letter to your paper has been instigated with a lack of factual information.

At recent committee meetings there have been disagreements and issues are in the process of being taken to the members.

However I cannot see why certain members have taken to the press with blatant lack of true facts.

Hearsay is not always factual.

The letter has been instigated as a means of reaching club members with ulterior motives to ‘label’ and undermine certain committee members which is certainly not in the best interest of the club as a whole.

I summarise by saying I am a member of the committee and have been a member of the social club for 45 years and am disgusted to see that members of the club would go to the extreme of this publicity which does no good for the club.
