LETTERS – Support Donington

The post office was a well-supported amenity in Donington and I can appreciate its closure is going to affect many residents and businesses in Donington.

I feel, however, it is a time to stay positive and turn the angle of the conversation into why it’s important to continue to support the businesses that Donington does have to offer.

There has been a lot of coverage on local social media about how Donington is going down hill following the loss of the bank, the bakers and now the post office (all in 2019).

My view is of a positive note – we have many more shops and businesses in Donington compared to other villages.

These shops rely on the support of the locals in order to thrive. The village can regrow if other business see that the locals support the businesses we already have.

Supporting local/small businesses has been the moral of a recent advert for Visa and this message cannot be gotten across enough in terms of smaller locations like villages.

I am a co-owner of Clark Family Eyecare.

We differ in the care and attention we give compared to some other opticians because we are a local team, we provide a service which includes familiarity, personality and time, many of which you are likely to find in other smaller independent businesses – especially in a village location.

Shop local, support local!
