LETTERS – Not at all political

I also attended the Remembrance Service at Ayscoughfee which was carried out with respect and gratitude and in no way political even though wreaths were laid initially by Sir John Hayes, Conservative Party and latterly by Mark Popple, Labour Party, along with several other denominations and anyone else who wished to lay a wreath.

The only blight on the service was the initial sound problems.

Unfortunately Hayley you seem to be the only one who thinks that the service had a political connotation and obviously failed to see Sir John lay his wreath early on in the proceedings.

What a shame you cannot see the bigger picture and understand that the people who lost their lives or who survived, were a cross section of communities, race, faith and political sectors.

They did so to ensure we enjoy freedom, peace and a fairer society for all.

I am proud to vote Labour and I am proud to vote for Jeremy Corbyn because he cares about the increased poverty, food banks which are rife across the UK, the NHS and all services, even SHDC, being crippled by this Tory government who go forward making the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. This is not a caring Tory government.

It needs major change to honour those who fought so hard on our behalf for a fairer society.

I hope my relatives who fought for my and my family’s future, are proud that I care enough to pay my respects on the appropriate day and care more to vote Labour today and not to confuse the two.
