LETTERS – MPs’ pay cut could mean NHS increase

What?! Unbelievable! After all the posturing and touting support for our NHS and other frontline workers, this government, it seems, has plans to ‘reward’ them with another pay freeze!!

Since taxpayers pay their salaries too (something often conveniently forgotten) could ministers not save money by cutting their own pay?

Perhaps John Hayes would like to lead the way by promising a ten per cent of his?

The government ministers might have only been play-acting, but all the people leaving chocolates or flowers on key workers doorsteps, or joining in with the clapping and cheering on Thursday evenings were not.

All of us are playing it from the heart.

The people have put up with a lot recently, doing what was needed, but I doubt they will stand for this total disrespect to people considered, rightfully, as heroes.

Perhaps John Hayes could reassure us that he will speak out in parliament, and vote against any pay freezes for key workers?

Over to you, Sir John.
