LETTERS – Many chances for improvement

To follow up from my recent letter regarding better facilities for cyclists in Lincolnshire, including local towns and villages alike.

I had a day in Spalding recently and took the opportunity to use as many of the designated cycle paths as I could.

My journey started off down Wardentree Lane, then onto Enterprise Way where I found vehicles blocking the cycle path to use as a delivery stop.

I proceeded down Pinchbeck Road, then onto Park Road where I had to negotiate potholes (see picture) en route and lamp posts in the middle of the pathway.

I spoke with several pedestrians and they were of the opinion that the designated pathways were not suitable for either pedestrians and cyclists because of lack of space.

I noted many opportunities for improvement and some new initiatives that could be delivered in partnership with the local authorities.

I would like to invite any of our local leaders to join me to walk the walk, or rather ride the pathway, to get a better understanding of what we have and what we could improve for the benefit of all concerned.
