LETTERS – It’s time for a new super store

I have lived in Holbeach since 2004 and the main supermarket Tesco is still the same size as it was 16 years ago.

But in the meantime hundreds of new homes have been built and hundreds more are being built right now, with still more at the planning stage.

Nowadays the Tesco store is full to bursting with so many customers and the car park is frequently almost full. It is increasingly like trying to get a quart into a pint pot.

So it’s time now to invite other supermarkets to put in bids to build here.

My money would be on an Aldi or Lidl, either of which would offer fierce competition to Tesco.

Recently, Tesco have completed a refurbishment in Holbeach, including painting the outside battleship grey, which is most unattractive.

Compare the “new look” with the sleek glass and steel new Lidl at Fulney!
