The members of the Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding would like to express their enormous gratitude to everyone who attended their sell-out concert at the South Holland Centre on Saturday, October 13.
The show was to mark the tenth anniversary of the orchestra’s existence and to also raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Thanks to the support of the wonderful people of Spalding and the surrounding area, the evening was a success
on two fronts.
Firstly, the capacity audience gave the orchestra outstanding support from curtain up until the fourth encore some three hours later. The enthusiastic singing, clapping and laughter was humbling and very much appreciated by us all.
Thank you everyone for making the evening such fun for all the ‘ukers’ on stage.
Secondly, the UOofS members personally covered the costs of hiring the venue and the services of the centre staff in order that 100 per cent of ticket sales and raffle proceeds would go to the Alzheimer’s Society. By evening’s end, the amount raised for this worthiest of causes was in the region of £4,000.
The support of all those who helped put together this event has been immense.
Everyone associated with the orchestra feels proud of this combined effort, and very proud too of the local people who came to cheer them on.
Well done, one and all!
