The funeral of our late Queen Elizabeth is one of the most moving, well planned, faultless ceremonies ever staged in this country, bringing almost everyone to a standstill because of the respect we have for the stability and leadership displayed in a modest, human manner.
No other country could produce such a spectacle with many memories from the day, either from the television or being present in London.
King Charles has worked extremely hard this week to assume the role vacated by his mother, meeting various heads of state as well as the general public whilst personally grieving.
How refreshing it was to hear him curse over a faulty pen when signing the proclamation, or to greet our new Prime Minister who touched his arm first, both incidents showing he is only human yet bringing criticism from the usual few who never falter!
Whilst we sympathise with the passing of our Queen, producing the stress on faces of her family, my lasting picture is the sight of those lads from the Grenadier Guards who transported the coffin weighing over 400 pounds a number of times, and especially up the steps of St George’s Chapel in Windsor, without putting a foot wrong.
How proud yet worried they must have felt with the eyes of the world watching closely.
These stars were faultless in carrying out all their duties and made me feel proud to be British.
Well done lads. You deserve all the praise you have already received in the national press.
