LETTERS – Fountain should be in town

With more and more heat waves forecast as a result of climate change, it’s a pity the Johnson Drinking Fountain has been kept in Ayscoughfee Gardens instead of restoring it to the town centre.

In the Market Place, say, where a free supply of cool drinking water would have been a far more apt memorial to Miss Johnson’s intentions than having the fountain stand dry and functionless where it is now.
