LETTERS – Does someone have to die?

I had a chance to go to the Tuesday market this week around 11am, entering by walking past the South Holland Centre from Broad Street.

As I did I passed a barrier across the road stopping traffic.

I had used the local atm when I absent mindedly turned and almost walked into a van.

The driver had moved the barrier and went through.

I couldn’t put it out of my mind that what if there was an accident? Would the van be insured, would the council be liable and more importantly what about me if I ended up hospitalised?

As usual in this world does someone have to be seriously injured or killed before action is taken?
