LETTERS – Choir comp thanks

I would like to thank everyone for their help and support at the Christmas School Choir Competition.

The children and teachers worked hard, it was good to see so many enjoying the entertainment of schools singing Christmas songs.

The effort that must have gone into teaching the songs to the children with the actions and dressing them up was outstanding, each year the schools get bigger and better and more competitive, it has become a wonderful event to run.

Thank you to Rev John and Mary Bennett and the ladies for their kind hospitality and Diane Thackery for organising the fruit for Santa to give out as they left.

First place went to St John the Baptist Primary School – a well deserved win – second place St Paul’s Community Primary School, third place went to Spalding Parish Church of England Day School. William from Gosberton House Academy won the Overall Performer Award.

Special thanks to Graham Boor (Hughes), Will Naylor (Bakkavor), Matthew Clark (Alleycatz), Couns Francis Biggadike, Harry Drury, Michael Seymour, Allan Beal, Rodney Grocock, Andrew Woolf, Jack Tyrrell, Peter Coupland, Rob Gibson, Nigel Pepper, Paul Redgate, Gary Porter, Elizabeth Sneath, Gary Taylor and special thanks to Coun Anthony Casson, Simon Stone and Julie Atkinson (Springfields), Gail Ridley (Morrisons), James Peck (NFU) and Darren Maddison (Polka Dot Pantos).

Without these people and organisations this event would not happen, their donations and prizes for the schools were very much appreciated. Special thanks to Santa – Terry you were great as always.

The pantomime cast came and entertained the children whilst the judges deliberated over the winners. They got everyone to join in and sang three songs from their panto Rapunzel, they thoroughly enjoyed seeing the cast sing and perform.

The children entertained with their singing, dancing and moves and kept the judges busy. They were all winners in the judges’ eyes who struggled choosing the winning school and wanted you all to know they had a great morning, but a difficult job to choose a winner.

I would like to thank the sponsors, schools, teachers, mums and dads, but mainly to the children, for coming and supporting this event, entertaining us and making the day a success.

It is always a pleasure on the day to see your happy smiling faces; it makes all the hard work leading up to the event worthwhile.

Thank you to everyone who gave and attended the School Choir Competition 2019 – we look forward to seeing you all again on Friday, November 13, 2020. Get that date in your diary!
