LETTER: You do not play ‘tig’ over land

Thank you for publishing the findings of the USAF conclusions as to the F15 493rd Fighter Sqd Lakenheath crash near Spalding and Holbeach last year.

Ejecting from a downing aircraft is no fun at any time and ejecting when you have no control over where the aircraft is going to land must weigh on the mind afterwards.

So thank you “Hitman 32” for directing it so closely into that field just near a school and village – from near 5,500ft ejection. That takes some doing.

Thanks to the USAF investigation for being so candid about conclusions as to the cause of the accident.

What needs to be recognised now by USAAF and European Nato fighter directions is that you do not play “tig” over land however many green fields are seen below – usually Holbeach town.

For heavens sake, the open sea is only for you a matter of seconds away from here and is readily identifiable.
