LETTER: Why would anyone want wheelie bins?

Christmas is over and thanks to Lord Porter I can fill as many bags of festive rubbish as I like for our happy refuge collectors to collect with speed and efficiency. However, some people appear to be unhappy because Santa didn’t leave a wheelie bin in their Christmas stocking.

Why would anyone want a wheelie bin? Just look at the facts.

1. SHDC would require additional vehicles and staff to provide the current service within the same timescale as bin collections are much slower than the bag system.

2. Who wants a row of bins in their garden? I don’t as these things have a habit of multiplying over time.

3. The problem of bags being left out days before collections will not go away they will simply be replaced by bins.

4. Bins are not allowed to be overfilled so any additional rubbish will have to be retained in bags until bins have been emptied.

5. Bins will not be taken in after being emptied as many people are at work. The empty bins will come to life as the wind blows them into the road causing motorists to swerve round them.

6. Strangers could put hazardous waste in bins left out overnight leaving the resident with a bill for its disposal.

7. Bins will become a health hazard over time as they become dirty and smelly. Some residents in Cambridge pay to have their bins cleaned regularly but I cannot see that happening in Spalding.

Do you still want bins?

Forget the bin idea as SHDC have got it right.

Finally last week Mr Drapers was unable to put a case for bins instead he showed his disrespect and ignorance for anyone in authority.
