LETTER: We’re not expensive charity shop – come and see!

In response to D Loos’ letter (April 27) regarding charity shops.

Have you ever visited Chosen Charity of Holbeach? If not, I suggest you do.

We have a team of 20 volunteers including two managers, all of whom give their time for free, including most Sunday mornings. We pay full price for any items we purchase, that is how we were able to donate over £41,000 to local good causes last year.

Our premises are small, our prices are better than competitive – three books for £1, including hard-backed copies. Most of our ladies’ and gents’ tops are under £3 unless something special.

I know that the well known charity shops have paid management staff, and in most cases their prices are set by head office, but please do not tar all charities with the same brush.
