LETTER: Thanks one and all for your support

I would like to say a huge thank you to the good people of Holbeach and surrounding villages for their generosity and continuing support over the Christmas period.

The Holbeach Rotary Club made 11 Santa runs throughout the area in December and raised over £4,300, with the help of Holbeach Scouts, Long Sutton Scouts, Moulton Brownies, Whaplode Playing Fields, Holbeach Town Band, Park Road Patients’ Group and the Willows Day Nursery, all of whom, along with local charities, will be beneficiaries. Included in this figure is the £221.31 street collection held on December 24.

If there are any other groups, clubs or societies out there who would like to boost their funds with the help of The Holbeach Rotary Club next Christmas please get in touch through our website or Facebook page.

The more help we can muster, the larger the area we can cover.

We would also be grateful with any help if anyone could assist in towing the Santa sleigh (approx. two hours on the nights we tow Santa).

Finally a sincere thank you to the staff and customers of Holbeach Tesco for their valued support in helping to make this truly the season of goodwill.

President
Rotary Club of Holbeach

Spalding Lions would like to say a big thank you to all the residents of the villages that we recently visited with Santa.

We have had one of the most successful years of raising money and it would not be so without your kind donations.

We would also like to say thank you to Morrisons and Sainsbury’s supermarkets for supporting us.

Thank you to all those businesses that offer support either helping the sleigh run smoothly or giving produce that we give to our elderly residents.

The money that we raise is to help our community in Spalding and the area.

This is the busiest time of the year for Spalding Lions joining together to bring some festive cheer to the community.

Santa is warmly welcomed by all on his visits, he makes sure that those that wish to speak to him are given the opportunity to let him hear their Christmas wish.

Volunteer helpers join us on this mammoth task making it possible that a wide area of the district is visited.

All these organisations will receive a donation from Spalding Lions.

When not with the sleigh Spalding Lions visit some of the elderly residents of Spalding giving them a musical evening with carols and songs from their era.

These evenings are received with much enthusiasm from the elderly residents.

Once again a big thank you to all of those involved with our Christmas activities.

We will be doing various fundraising events during 2016 and we hope to see you all there.

Wishing you all the very best for 2016.

Spalding Lions

Father Christmas’s 2015 sleighride in Spalding collected a record £11,204.

That’s an incredible result for the people of Spalding and for us, the sleigh ride organisers – South Holland Rotary Club.

So we’d like to thank the thousands of mums, dads and children who greeted Father Christmas so enthusiastically and so generously.

We also thank the organisations who provided collectors on different evenings – Spalding and Welland Rotary Club, Spalding Rugby Club, Air Training Corps, Spalding Competitive Swimming Club, the Crazy Flyers, Hope and Homes, Spalding Brownie and Guide leaders, Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding Gymnastics Club, Spalding Duke of Edinburgh Award group, and Spalding and District Young Farmers.

We shall soon be presenting cheques to all them.

The remainder of the £11,204 will be very well used by South Holland Rotary – most of it helping the young and old, the ill and disabled, and those in need in and around Spalding.

We thank Morrisons and Sainsbury’s for permission to collect at their stores – and this newspaper and Tulip Radio for their helpful publicity.

A good New Year to you all.

Bob Bradley
President
Rotary Club of South Holland

We would like to thank everyone for their support through the year in helping us raise funds for many charities which include Lincolnshire Air Ambulance, ATC Holbeach & WI.

Thank you all.
