Please can I extend my deep thanks to Ram and the team at the always fantastic Gurkha Oven for an amazing Nepal fundraiser.
What an incredible event, which raised over £2,000 to help the many thousands of people who have lost friends, family and all of their possessions in the earthquake disaster.
As ever, we have a moral duty to give to charity in times such as these.
It underlines to me the importance of the UK retaining our foreign aid spend to allow for flexible and immediate (rather than knee-jerk and inconsistent) responses to horrendous natural and human disasters such as what has happened in Nepal.
Simply put, without the UK foreign aid budget, we won’t be able to respond quickly enough as a nation to save lives in disasters like Nepal.
To claim otherwise shows either breath-taking naivety or downright cynicism.
Thank you again to the Gurkha Oven.
