LETTER: Sadly, too late for us

I felt the need to contact you after reading the piece in The Voice on November 7 ‘Building on a Spalding playing field Shelved’.

I, myself, and my parents live opposite a piece of land previously categorized us “undevelopable” which unfortunately then received planning permission passed by South Holland District Council for ten executive homes off Spalding Road in Pinchbeck.

Also frustrating was the fact that this development was within 20 meters of a water course which I believe was not marked on the application form.

The building works have started but every morning they spend at least the first hour trying to get water out of where they are trying to build.

That’s entertaining to watch but on a serious note this site is waterlogged.

We also have a gout running at the side of this development!

This land is flooding before the houses get built and as we live between the development and the gout this is very concerning, especially as they are using the gout for drainage.

I certainly do not want to get flooded in the future.

I’m pleased to hear that the playing field development has been shelved but unfortunately we weren’t so lucky.
