I can’t understand the district council’s decision to increase car park charges.
I understand that most people in the know have not been paying anything for years, as they knew there wasn’t anyone policing the car parks.
Why not just announce that the car parks are now going to be checked and the increased income should boost the council’s coffers anyway? I thought we wanted to keep the town centre alive.
Please reconsider this decision. It just doesn’t make sense.
Also the idea of charging people to park at the sports centre is crazy.
(Editor’s note – the council has said it’s working on a system so Castle Sports Complex users will not be charged for parking.)
