Late penalty continues Knights’ poor run

The losing run continued for Pinchbeck United on Saturday as a late penalty saw them go down 2-1 at home to Kimberley Miners Welfare.
Though the Knights were much improved on previous showings and took the lead in the 28th minute through Andre Williams’s tenth goal of the season.
But James Shaw responded three minutes before the break to level it up in the Chroma-Sport United Counties League Premier Division North fixture.
The game could’ve gone either way in the second period with a debutant in Taylor Jaine, signed from Boston United’s youth set up, being denied by a fine save while one-on-one with the keeper.
But with just seven minutes left the visitors were awarded a penalty which Shaw stepped up to fire home.
Pinchbeck were set to be in action last night (Wednesday, result not known at time of going to press) with a trip to Eaton Socon of St Neots in the Hinchingbrooke Cup.
The winners are due to face Stotford FC in the next round.
Back in the league on Saturday, the Knights travel to Heanor Town before hosting Deeping Rangers on Wednesday, February 15.
Knights: Smith, Jaine, Millar, Dilley, Sheriff, Robson, Spafford, Burdass (Melson), Vieira, Johnson (Foster), Williams (Weir-Daley). Subs not used: Wilkinson.
Attendance: 55.
