Late heartbreak for title-chasing Spalding United in Carlton Town thriller

Spalding United’s title hopes in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South took a big hit on Tuesday night as they lost 4-3 at Carlton Town.

The Tulips trailed 2-1 at half time despite Leon Mettam’s first goal for the club (34), with Jordan Wilson (28) and Kevin Lusamba (45) the home scorers.

Danny Gordon (76) then made it 3-1 to Carlton, but Spalding hit back through Mettam (77) and skipper Nathan Stainfield (79) to make it 3-3.

Cenk Acar then rattled the post for the Tulips, before Kieran Walker buried a winner for the Millers deep into stoppage time.
