Landmark business premises in Spalding town centre are on the market for more than £1 million.
The former Hills, latterly Coney’s, department store in the centre of town has an asking price of £750,000.
With almost 15,000sq ft of space and a first floor restaurant, it’s one of the biggest buildings on offer.
Hills was owned by the Turner family for 60 years before Coney’s under the banner of Spalding Apparel Ltd, took it on in 2020. The company closed it permanently in May this year.
Rising costs and declining sales were cited as the reasons for closure and the company’s other stores continue to trade.
The building is also available for rent at £65,000 a year, according to the particulars posted by the agents, Pygott and Crone.
Coney’s still operates in Boston, Lincoln and King’s Lynn while also running Cavani stores in Nottingham and Lincoln.
Another town centre premises Sergi’s Tapas Bar, Francis Street, is to be auctioned with a guide price of £475,000.
The bar also has a first floor studio flat and the current owners have had it for 17 years.
The 1,596sq ft Spanish inspired restaurant and bar has been open since 2005.
It is on an internet auction site until next Tuesday, further details can be found at the webstie www.pattinson.co.uk
Also on the market is the Sheep Market building formerly occupied by the Nottingham Building Society.
It’s being marketed by Eddisons and has an asking price of £275,000.
The former Beales building remains on the market for an undisclosed sum.
And the former Clintons card shop in Hall Place is still available for rent.
The building, with just over 1,000sq ft of space, is being marketed for a rent of £14,500 a year by Banks Long and Co.
Further out of town, the former Frankie and Benny’s restaurant on Camel Gate appears to be under offer.
