Knights’ Vase hopes end at first hurdle

Two late goals condemned Pinchbeck United to an early exit from the FA Vase.

After conceding an early goal, the Knights battled hard against Stapleford Town but were caught out on the break with the visitors scoring again in the 81st minute and two minutes into stoppage time to complete a 3-0 win.

Man of the match JJ Ward came closest to scoring for the hosts, hitting the woodwork four minutes into the second half.

The Knights head into new territory on Saturday when they travel to league newcomers Maltby Main.

The south Yorkshire team were moved across from the Northern Counties East League during the summer.
