Lincolnshire CCC picked up their first win of the season in the Unicorns Eastern Division Championship with a 116 run win over Cambridgeshire at Cleethorpes.
Lincolnshire won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Joe Kendall and Chris Jones (32) put on 81 for the first wicket which was followed by the outstanding partnership of the match as Kendall and Louis Kimber added 173 for the second.
Kimber continued his fine form, making 82 from 110 balls while Kendall fell for an excellent 142 as Lincolnshire reached 299-3.
Bilal Shafayat had played himself in and took control hitting a brilliant 101 not out off 102 balls as Lincolnshire passed 400 with Carl Wilson hitting a quickfire 39.
From 90 overs Lincolnshire totalled 442-7.
They reduced Cambridgeshire to 116 for 5 in the reply, but Jamie Seabrook and Alex Woolliscroft added 144 before Seabrook was dismissed by Nick Keast for 78.
Woolliscroft scored 104 Cambridgeshire posted 355 for 9.
Keast with 6-137 was Lincolnshire’s most successful bowler.
They looked to add to their lead of 87 and Kendall and Jones again gave the home side a good start making 69. Kimber fell for a low score and Jones was run out for 50.
Dan Freeman and Shafayat (45) added 80 for the fourth wicket, the former scoring 85 not out as Lincolnshire declared on 268-8 setting Cambridgeshire 356 to win.
Lincolnshire had 70 overs to win and Cambridgeshire to 74-4 and 95-7.
Yet again the lower order offered resistance with Recordo Gordon (40) and James Vanderpeer (76) frustrating.
The recall of Keast (4-91) to the attack saw Cambridgeshire dismissed with nine overs remaining for 239 leaving Lincolnshire winners by 116 runs and Keast with 10-228 from the match.
