Indoor bowls round-up: Spalding’s Yetton Trophy run is over after narrow defeat

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s national knockout ladies’ team lost in the Yetton Trophy by just four shots in a match played home and away on Saturday.

The Spalding women, who were runners-up last year, faced a strong South Forest team and as the match drew towards a conclusion, were 17 shots behind with 12 ends remaining.

A late comeback saw Spalding get within touching distance, but they just fell short, losing 73-77.

  • Spalding IBC’s friendly team kicked off 2018 with a fine win against Stamford in the first leg of the Salver trophy on Saturday, winning by 107 shots to 85.

The best winning rink was Roger Perkins, Gill Fisher and Lily Drawbridge.

The second leg will be held at 2pm on February 4, where Stamford will be hoping to reverse the scoreline.
