Indoor bowls round-up: It’s derby delight for Spalding over-60s

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s over-60s roared to a 132-79 victory over Boston B in their latest county league fixture.

Spalding started strongly and were winning well on three rinks, but the remaining two rinks were close.

Spalding were always going to win the aggregate score, but Boston fought back strongly on three rinks.

The results on these trio were decided on the last two ends, with Spalding winning one rink and Boston taking the other two.

That meant Spalding finished with a 53-shot cushion on aggregate and three rink victories.

The best winning rink was skipped by Bob Ground ably assisted by Len Jackson, Mick Dolton and Roger Perkins.

Captains for the day were David Lunn and Graham Hicks.

  • Spalding IBC’s mixed team lost their latest county league fixture 15-3 against rivals Louth A.

They only managed one rink win, which came from John Needham, Janet Staples, Betty Deaton and John Laud.

  • Spalding IBC’s friendly bowls won a very enjoyable clash against the Fenland Bowlers 80-47 at Sutton St James Bowls Club.

Spalding won on all four rinks, with the best being Sue Slayven, Ivy Tyler, Ken Challans and skip Roger Perkins.
